I’m Stephanie and I started this site at the requests of others who were interested in my recipes, cooking tips and gardening projects. I have been a homemaker for 35 years of marriage and have experience with cooking, gardening, and entertaining. Somewhere in there I carved out 12 years to earn my BA in Art History, a Masters in Information Science, and a PhD in Information Science. I received my professional certificate in Plant Based Nutrition from eCornell.
I have been on a plant based diet for 25 years. During that time I have waffled back to vegetarianism a few times. But what I really learned is that you crave what you eat the most often. For example, when I tried to get a dose of greens into our every day meals, my husband picked around them for a while. Then I began to hear “I feel like I need some greens!” I’ve also found you can lose your taste for foods you used to enjoy just by abstaining over time. I used to like scrambled eggs but I’ve found I’ve don’t care for them anymore. I have also discovered that I have a passion for Japanese culture and vegetarian homestyle cooking! I spent two weeks in Japan and it just left me craving for more. I hope to share some of what I have learned about these culinary discoveries as well. I have always had a vegetable garden of some kind over the years and I am working on a new garden project at the moment and will share that with you as well.
So, no matter what your dietary goals or interests are, I hope to inspire you with plant based food and small space vegetable gardening! The most common comment I get from admirers is “I’m so inspired now! But I don’t know where to start?!” It doesn’t matter how unsure you feel in the kitchen, you can make delicious, nutritious, beautiful plant-based food for you and your family. No matter how small your space, you can grow some produce for your kitchen creations. So, welcome! Browse around and get inspired!
